Round 2: Model Apartments - RECAP
I saw this type of challenge on a design competition on HGTV years ago and thought the concept/idea was really cool. I've always wanted to bring it to life on TIC and it finally happened. This is probably one of my favorite challenges in the show ever.

(Fun Fact: This was filmed way back in August 2014, just as last round was).

Rather than starting off the episode immediately with the Evaluation, a segment is shown of Victoria introducing the challenge... at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Very funny. Maybe not really. But I think it is. I came up with that right on the spot too haha.

Now, some "great fashion"...
The Nerd
The Princess

The Surfer
The Rockstar
The Grandma

Then, Victoria reveals the task: design an apartment based on the model you select.

As the Winner of Round 1, Ellie was able to select her model first. Quite "evil" of Ellie to take the surfer while Lela5631 gets her hopes up for the surfer. Loved that bit.

Then... Verde Sal takes the Rockstar, Melanie gets the Princess, Lela5631 gets the Grandma, and poor Alley is stuck with the Nerd. She's not too happy with it.

Now... the Evaluation.

First up, Verde Sal. I think if he had filled up the left side a bit more instead of adding all those random details on the right side, he would have done much better. I really appreciated how different the igloo looked from the given layout, but it just came across as really bare.

Next, Ellie. I still think the bathroom should have had more of a "luxurious" or "summer" feel to match the Surfer. Other than that, I thought this was great. Have no idea what Alex1941 was talking about? What's wrong with 2 stoves/2 sinks? That exists... Feel like we need a new judge or something.

Then, we have Melanie. I was the only one to point out the way she used the crown on the door. (I don't think that was shown on-screen, though?). That was really creative. However, the living room and the kitchen were just so tight to me. I feel like it might have been avoided if she had switched the positions of those sections. I also think the bathroom stands out... for the wrong reasons. It's probably because it's entirely blue and it's sitting in the corner, while the other three-fourths of the igloo is pink and princessy.

Next... Lela5631. Again, this igloo looks like it was put together in five minutes with the most basic CP items. A grandma might be a little basic/outdated, but like Alex1941 pointed out, it should have some "antiques" at least.

(Fun Fact: She actually did turn in her igloo really fast. Probably as soon as we dismissed the contestants from the Fashion Show...)

(TIC Trivia: Once the contestants turn in their igloos, they are NOT allowed to change it or hand in an updated copy of their igloo.)

Finally, Alley. I don't know why everyone thought this would get 20 or 18 or 22 or 19, etc. I really feel she "took off" the Nerd's clothes and decorated the apartment with it. However, the checkered-shoes were kind of hinting at a checkered-floor (using the Weathered Paths, maybe), but oh well. It might've been a little bare but she really gave you that "Nerd" sense, with video game/character posters everywhere, video games, books, and some weird futuristic looking toilet that the Nerd probably put together.

All of the 5 igloos have been reviewed. It's time for the Judges to make their decision.

Commercials... (don't subscribe to Rockingyaz I just had nothing else to use LOLZ).

Like last week, you only see like 30 seconds of the Lounge footage, out of 20-30 MINUTES. There was a LOT of drama... not the type of drama when contestants clash, but when they doubt themselves. Lela5631 was running around the entire time, lol, like breaking down. Verde Sal at one point said "I want to be SAFE," which had me & Victoria laughing because that was super dramatic. Boy, it must have been great to be in Alley's position at this point.

And now, the results. Drum roll...

Not surprisingly, Alley is the Winner of the Week. She, Ellie, and Melanie form the top-performing group this week.

That leaves us with Lela5631 and Verde Sal. The Judges review their flaws and what went wrong...

Lela5631 is eliminated. "Nobody is ever perfect," (??)

The episode ends with that cheesy confessional with the almost-eliminated contestant saying that they will make a comeback. Never happens anyway. (Wait, it just happened with Alley. oops)

Next time...
It's Spin the Wheel again, this time with only shops on the wheel.
